Success Formula One: Do not procrastinate.
May 26th, 2009 by viru

After procrastinating for several days, I’m finally writing this article.

If at all you are wondering “What is the ‘Formula Number One’ of successful persons?”, then the answer is nothing but “Do it now, don’t procrastinate”.

A great Tamil poet “Thiruvalluvar” mentions this “Procrastination”(i.e. postponing doing things) as the first thing an unsuccessful person does. In one of his couplets he says, “Procrastination, Forgetfulness, Laziness and Sleep: these four things form the vessel which is desired by those destined to destruction.”

Many times, to start a task, I’ve waited for the clock to strike XX:00 Hrs, then “From tomorrow I’ll start”, then, “From Next week I’ll start”, then, “From Next month I’ll start”,…. and I’m yet to start many such things – only because of this “Procrastination”.

I’m sure many of you may be doing the same thing like this to be unsuccessful in life.

Next question you may have is: “How to get rid of Procrastination?”. The answer is simple. This simple answer is told by another great Tamil poet Barathiar in the first verse of his poem as: “Need self-determination in mind” (“manathil urudhi veendum”).

Please note: there are some benefits of Procrastination. But more than benefits, disadvantages are more.

Do not worry about the past. Do it now and make the most of now.

Stop reading this article, close it and start your tasks NOW to achieve your goal.

Hard Work will pay one day.
May 15th, 2009 by viru

I was in a regular job in the corporate world for a decade and now for the past two years I’m experimenting my entrepreneurial dreams with my own company (www.HomePlanGuru.com).

I’m not getting the same monthly salary as my ex-colleagues who are still in their regular job. I’m not getting the same perks (like comfortable office, comfortable commute and so on) in my entrepreneurial path. These things force me to lead a ’simple’ life.

I work hard as an entrepreneur and people in regular job also still work hard (and harder during this recession period).

From my college days till now, I’ve realized one thing – “Hard Work will pay one day”. I strongly believe in this and hence in spite of all the challenges I face, I enjoy my work and hope that I’ll be paid for my patience & hard work one day.

Like “Apple Inc” CEO Steve Job said, “It is difficult to connect the dots looking forward, but it is easier to connect the dots looking backward”. I strongly agree to his view point. Does anyone of you agree this?

Anger is our worst enemy!
May 11th, 2009 by viru

If at all you are wondering who is our worst enemy, I would say “Anger”.

I’m making this statement after experiencing several things in my life where I showed anger and realized that it is my “worst enemy”.

No one will listen to you if you show your contempt to them. The only way to make things work is to be polite and gentle.

When you get angry, don’t react immediately. Start counting from 1 to 10 and then react after this count. There is a possibility of controlling your anger.

Control your anger (in both personal life and official life) and see how you improve.

If you find any change in your life, please let me know (or write a comment here).

All the best!

Pay the Farmer instead of Doctor
May 3rd, 2009 by viru

I went to a remote town in South India to attend a family function. While returning, I boarded an auto to go to the Railway station. On my way to the station, I had a brief chat with the driver about the heat wave in India and people dying due to that. He was giving lot of insights about how people neglect having regular food, mistakes many people do in their food habits, etc. It looked as if he was telling about me. If you were there, you would have felt the same.

He told that we all should have proper food at the right time. He also told one axiom in Tamil which meant “Pay the Farmer instead of Doctor”. If we analyze what he meant, we all will be healthy for ever.
