Food, Exercise and Health
Feb 7th, 2010 by viru

I am lazy to do any exercise.  I guess many of us may be like me.   I don’t create time to do exercise (many people use this sentence instead “I don’t have time to do any exercise”).

Whenever I read an article about food, exercise or health, I enjoy that and feel as if I will be doing something  soon to take care of my health.  But as soon as I finish reading it, I again become lazy to do any exercise or control my diet.

I used to think many times why am I lazy?  Why am I not taking care of my health?   The answer is simple: It is natural to be lazy.

Is there any way I can get rid of this laziness and take care of my health?

I guess there is one way: Just spend 10 minutes everyday at a particular time say morning 7 am or evening 6 pm for the first 15 days or 30 days doing nothing (easiest, isn’t it?) or some small exercise (breathing or jumping, etc).  After that we may get used to it (like reading news paper) and 10 minutes may become 15 and then 30 minutes.

Note: (Wordpress Plugin style): This concept is not tested with any humans (ver 1.0 and above) by me.  I’m going to test it from tomorrow.  If you wish to test this concept, please write a comment here.

Get Health Insurance Policy please…
Oct 29th, 2009 by viru

I’m not selling any insurance policy to write this post. I’m writing this based on my personal experience.

My mother went into coma and was admitted in a good hospital. She was discharged after 7 weeks. Since she was not insured, I paid the entire hospitalization charges from my pocket. It took my entire savings to bring her back to life.  But it was worth it.

Since she is 63 years old,  now I’m not able to get an health insurance policy as the entry age is before 60 years.  If I had taken the health insurance policy before she reached 60 years, it would have helped now.

If you understand how Insurance Companies work, you will not blame them for such policies (like age limit, exceptions, etc).

Why many people should enroll in this?  Because it is a number game.

Assume that a person pays $100 (Rs.4,000) per year for $10,000 (Rs.4 lakhs) coverage. If he gets admitted in a hospital and the insurance pays $10,000 for the hospital expenses, it would mean that the Insurance Company had paid him 100 times the premium amount.

How can they pay 100 times the premium amount to a person?

If 100 persons pay $100 and if one person claims $10,000, then there is no loss or profit for the insurance company(actually there is a loss to the Insurance Company).  So, when more people pay the premium, more people will benefit.

What if you pay your health insurance premium and never claim it in your life?

Don’t you think that such a “no claim” is a “very good news”?

Pay the Farmer instead of Doctor
May 3rd, 2009 by viru

I went to a remote town in South India to attend a family function. While returning, I boarded an auto to go to the Railway station. On my way to the station, I had a brief chat with the driver about the heat wave in India and people dying due to that. He was giving lot of insights about how people neglect having regular food, mistakes many people do in their food habits, etc. It looked as if he was telling about me. If you were there, you would have felt the same.

He told that we all should have proper food at the right time. He also told one axiom in Tamil which meant “Pay the Farmer instead of Doctor”. If we analyze what he meant, we all will be healthy for ever.
